THE MIDAS AT NYFW
One of my favorite shows at NYFW: with gold, tweed, and fur, Michael Kors showed us just how luxurious a fall wardrobe can look. I've been admiring the collections of MK for a long time! And that he presented yesterday at the fashion week in New York, is amazing!
Amid all the cozy fall fare at Michael Kors (fur mufflers, tweed trench coats, thick ribbed sweaters), one look shone particularly brightly on the runway: a gorgeous, bias-cut gold dress. A true Midas touch!
Kors calls this coming season of "opulent restraint.” That means to plenty of masculine pieces like a snappy gun-check trench, mixed up with the likes of hip-hugging, long, lean trumpet skirts and paisley silk dresses with, of course, a little dose of sensuality, thanks to their bias cutting. All of this was then accessorized with fox mufflers, flat burnished brogues, and a new scarf-collar hybrid that can be worn under or over a coat, perhaps belted, and oftentimes lavished with gold bullion embroidery.
These days nobody wants basic-basic, but neither is anyone really in the market for a piece that can exist only on a designer’s runway. And that is the proposal of Michael Kors from the beginning of his creations. He believe that women need real and special clothes, and I agree with him!
